Phishing and Spear Phishing

Phishing and Spear Phishing
Cybercriminals mask themselves through various means, including links that seem harmless but actually provide doorways through which cybercriminals can access company information. These links can arrive through emails from familiar contacts, so employees should exercise caution when opening unfamiliar links, even those from known sources.

Just this year, hackers successfully deployed a phony Whatsapp notification that spread malware on the user’s device when selected. Attachments or links in emails can infect a user’s device with malware or direct them to a website that lures users into revealing personal information or sensitive financials.

Cybercriminals use a plethora of clever tricks to steal information. Spear phishing is a growing threat, and resembles phishing except for the fact that this attack targets a specific person or company. The best way to avoid being a victim is to educate and consistently test and train employees.

Abacode’s team of cyber experts deliver customized education and awareness training. We may also deploy customized tools to detect phishing attempts in real-time, and provide geo-location tracking of cybercriminals.
